Next stop - Halifax

Petitcodiac River tidal bore

The tidal charts are available everywhere and people gather to watch. The pictures don't look like anything too amazing, but it is. There is something called reversing falls in Moncton and other places that we haven't caught as yet. The two pictures here show how high the tide comes up within 10 minutes or so. Truro Tidal Bore Lesson

What is a tidal bore you ask? Well. The thing to see in Truro. It is a tidal phenom in which the leading edge of the incoming tide forms a wave of water that travel up a river and against the direction of the current. Bores occur in relatively few locations worldwide such as the Bay of Fundy, and where incoming tides are funnelled into a shallow, narrowing river via a broad bay.

Truro

After about a 90 minute ferry ride we are back in Nova Scotia and spending the night in Truro. It is Now 9am, having coffee and talking about what should we do today?

Nova Scotia - Canada's Ocean Playground

Goodbye PEI

We didn't do much in PEI except drive around and look at the scenery. Had loads of trouble finding a place to stay, everything full for the weekend, some big race or other going on but we saw pretty much what we wanted to see and ate what we wanted. Lots of lovely golf courses that I would like to come back and play someday.

Chowder House at Point Prim

Only the lighthouse and a Chowder House are at this remote little spot. Tiny little place with fresh seafood and a chowder that we heard raves about. Picked up some to go for the wait at the ferry off the island.

Lobster stuffed potato...mmm...

Rustico, PEI

Stopped in this little spot for lunch and spied this great looking character working on a lobster trap and wasn't planning to have my picture taken, but there you are.  Great lobster rolls here. Food has been good and never remember to take a picture until after it is eaten.

Anne of Green Gables

Wouldn't be right to come to PEI and not go to Cavendish. Anne of Green Gables is prevalent throughout the island, stores and souvenirs galore. It has been a long time since I read the book, actually not even sure if I have. The Cavendish home and area that is featured in Lucy Maude Montgomery's books is very pretty, all original, steeped in history and now we have been there.

Real PEI welcome

Welcome to PEI

No welcome sign when entering PEI. The girl at the tourist office told us that it fell down and the new sign didn't meet the requirements so she is our welcome sign.

Confederation Bridge to PEI

Gift

We are noticing people noticing our BC plates more and more. We were given souvenirs by a fellow in a New Brunswick Sobey's parking lot.  He made them in Richmond and when he saw our plates they were meant for us.

Shediac - Lobster Capital of the World

We were looking for fish and chips for dinner, so of course we went to Shediac for that. I would like to have lobster at some point on this trip, but it has to come with directions. I haven't a clue of how to get into one.
